  4. How to install for Windows 3.1:
  5. -------------------------------
  6. 1.  Create a directory called "\DabInst".
  7. 2.  Download DabUpd16.zip (Windows 3.1 version) to the
  8.     directory you just created.
  9. 3.  Unzip the archive with a program like pkunzip or
  10.     WinZip.
  11. 4.  In Windows 3.1, choose File:Run, type
  12.     "\DabInst\setup.exe. Follow the instructions given
  13.     by the installer to install Dabbler 2.0.4.
  14. 5.  After Dabbler 2.0.4 has successfully been installed
  15.     you may delete the directory "DabInst" and its
  16.     contents.

  18. How to install for Windows 95:
  19. ------------------------------
  20. 1.  Create a directory called "\DabInst".
  21. 2.  Download DabUpd32.zip (Windows 95 version) to the
  22.     directory you just created.
  23. 3.  Unzip the archive with a program like pkunzip or
  24.     WinZip.
  25. 4.  In Windows 95, choose Run from the Start button.
  26.     type "\DabInst\setup.exe. Follow the instructions
  27.     given by the installer to install Dabbler 2.0.4.
  28. 5.  After Dabbler 2.0.4 has successfully been installed,
  29.     you may delete the directory "\DabInst" and its
  30.     contents.

  32. Changes in Dabbler 2.0.4
  33. ------------------------
  34. PRINTING
  35. -GDI printing has now been fixed for the HP series of
  36.     printers (tested on 550C, 560C, 660C, and 850C), as
  37.     well as the Epson Stylus printer.
  38. -Printing to PostScript printers from Windows 95 has
  39.     been fixed.  Users of Windows 3.1, however, will
  40.     not be able to print to PostScript printers.
  41. -Various problems with flipbook printing has been
  42.     fixed.  Flipbook cards, their binding width and
  43.     page numbers are now being printed properly based
  44.     upon the settings in the Flipbook Setup dialog.
  45. -Size to Fit Page has been fixed.
  46. -Sketchpads of resolution other than 72dpi now print
  47.     correctly.
  48. -Dabbler 2.0.4 now tries to print as much as it can
  49.     even if the "Image does not fit within the printer
  50.     page."
  51. -Dabbler 2.0.4 defaults to GDI Printing on Windows.

  53. PLUGINS
  54. -Most 32-bit plugins now work in Dabbler 2.0.4 Windows 95.
  55. -Most 16bit plugins now work in Dabbler 2.0.4 Windows 3.1.
  56. Note: Users of Dabbler 2.0.4 on Windows 95 will only be
  57.     able to run 32-bit plugins and users of Dabbler
  58.     2.0.4 Windows 3.1 will only be able to run 16-bit
  59.     plugins.

  61. WINDOWS 95 RELATED ISSUES
  62. -Fixed the Flipbook Controls palette so that the window
  63.     title bar is properly drawn with only the zoom box
  64.     (i.e. removed the blank spot reserved for the close
  65.     box)
  66. -Fixed the default position of the Flipbook Controls
  67.     palette, basing it on the Application window's menu
  68.     bar height.
  69. -Fixed various crash bugs related to users clicking the
  70.     close box while certain modal dialogs are open,
  71.     while sessions are playing and while movies
  72.     (flipbooks) are playing.  Users will not be able to
  73.     quit out of Dabbler using the close box, if the
  74.     file menu or File:Exit is disabled.
  75. -In the release version, the Delete key on Win95
  76.     brought up the Export to AVI dialog.  This is not
  77.     supposed to happen and therefore this "feature" has
  78.     been removed.
  79. -Fixed the appearance of the Dabbler splash screen
  80. -Scanning is not supported under Windows 95 and NT.

  82. MISCELLANEOUS
  83. -In the Dabbler 2.0 release, if the user was out of
  84.     hard drive space and he tried to exit, he would get
  85.     trapped in a loop of error alerts and save dialogs.
  86.      This has now been fixed.
  87. -The Spacebar now invokes the Grabber tool like it is
  88.     supposed to. Choosing a brush tool, then the
  89.     stencil tool, and then choosing a brush tool again
  90.     would put the user in a state in which he could not
  91.     draw.  This has been fixed.
  92. -Turning tracing paper on and off would cause users to
  93.     lose their changes on the current page.
  94. -If the user double-clicks in the File:Open Browser
  95.     dialog before it has completely initialized caused
  96.     Dabbler to hang.  This has been fixed.
  97. -We now return a more informative dialog when the user
  98.     tries to create a sketchpad/flipbook with the same
  99.     name as the currently open sketchpad/flipbook.
  100. -Fixed the blanking out of the splash screen upon
  101.     launch of Dabbler.
  102. -Fixed various dialog title mistakes and menu update
  103.     problems.
  104. -Default the Dabbler.Set file to have No Print Banding
  105.     and No Device Dependent Bitmaps checked.  Also made
  106.     sure that in a new settings file, all brushes
  107.     default to the medium size and that the first five
  108.     brushes appear on the front of the drawer.
  109. -Default to first font in font menu, if Text Tool is
  110.     used before Text Style dialog is accessed.
  111. -If a paper texture library does not have FSPI icons
  112.     (libraries which were created using Painter's Paper
  113.     Mover), create a DAPI icon from scratch. Fixes
  114.     crash bug. 
  115. -Problems with copy and paste through the Windows
  116.     clipboard have been fixed.
  117. -A crash bug when loading or saving a file in the
  118.     Browse Sketchpad dialog has been fixed.
